Here is a new post with links to recordings for the semester. The old post (with Theory 2 recordings) is still available on the blog.

Franz Joseph Haydn, Piano Sonata in D Major, Hob. XVI:24, mvt. 2, mm. 1-24

Robert Schumann, “Folk Song” from Album for the Young, op. 68 (recording from textbook website)

Josephine Lang, "Arabesque" mm. 1-16

Georg Philip Telemann, Violin Fantasia no. 5 in A Major, mvt. 2 (complete movement)

Franz Joseph Haydn, Piano Sonata in C Major, Hob. XVI:35, mvt. 1, mm. 1-16

Georg Frideric Handel, “And the Glory of the Lord,” ending

Joseph Klug or Johann Sebastian Bach, In dulci jubilo (chorale)

  • The group in this recording sings the piece a major third higher than the notated score. Additionally, they sing in English and therefore add a few notes to accommodate the words. However, this is the best recording of this specific arrangement that I've been able to find.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, String Quartet K. 614, mvt. 1, opening

  • Listen to this example several times until you are sure you understand where there are pausing points in the music. It won't be obvious from just looking at the score.
