I agree with you, Emma, that using your listening skills is/should be the most important factor in determining keys, and that will be the case even after you all have more specific theoretical understanding of modulations.

I feel like you're talking more of MODULATION here rather than what we learned as "Change of Mode" ... "change of mode," as we dealt with it, more referred to the alteration from major to minor (or vice versa) specifically to a PARTICULAR MOTIVE. That may well occur in this excerpt, but I don't think you quite addressed it (or if you did, it was pretty brief and I did not catch it).
